Climate

Based on the modified Coronas Classification, the Municipality of Guinobatan is type 4 climate with year-round even rainfall distribution. The presence of Mayon Volcano and Mt.Masaraga serves as natural barrier that influences its climate. Situated southwest of the two volcanoes, it receives the least amount of rainfall resulting from the shadow effects of these barriers. It is within the regular path of tropical storms with mean frequency 20-30% in a year. As it is generally influenced by monsoons and pacific trade winds, tropical cyclone occurrences also affects the annual rainfall.

The highest wind velocity is always associated with typhoons experienced especially in the months of June to November. Northeast monsoon (amihan) is experienced from October to February and southwest monsoon (habagat) is from May to September with prevailing southeasterly winds. Year 2000 rainfall and temperature data of the PCA AGROMET Station showed an annual temperature at 26.125ºC with annual maximum average reaching 28.99ºC and a minimum average of 23.26ºC. January is the oldest month with mean temperature at 24.35ºC and May is the warmest with mean temperature at 27.19ºC. Humidity varies from 80% in June to August and 855 in September to February.
